POSTMODERN – the major Ukrainian postproduction studio – was named as a two times nominee in a short-list of the high-profiled and the most important international award in visual effects for TV mini series Inseparable.
Last night in Los Angeles Visual Effects Society has announced the short-list for the high-profiled and the prestigious yearly celebration that recognizes outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation in film, animation, television, commercials and video games — VES Awards. This award got the same ratio as The Academy Awards. For the last 12 years world famous movie pioneers were among the winners list. There are such names as George Lucas, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, John Dykstra, Ang Lee.
This year Ukraine has become two times nominee with TV series Inseparable by FILM.UA. Among other nominees along with Ukrainian Inseparable for the Outstanding Visual Effects in Broadcast Program are The Games of Thrones, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Almost Human and TV movie Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome.
In category Outstanding Created Environment in Broadcasted Program or Commercial Inseparable are presented with full recreation of Chernobyl zone via maps and historical documents. Games of Thrones, Hell of the Wheels and commercial for Liberty production sets are also in the nominees short-list.

TV mini series Inseparable (directed by Vitaliy Vorobiyov, produced by Victor Mirskiy) was broadcasted for a first time in April of 2013. This is a high-school graduate Alia and conscript soldier Pasha’s love story during the most tragic environmental disaster in Ukraine Chernobyl NPP accident.
Visual effects for Inseparable were made by POSTMODERN and thus company has became the first and only one postproduction studio in CIS that has ever made short-list of VES Awards. Previously POSTMODERN was nominated in 2012 for mini series Bomer. This nomination made the head of POSTMODERN’s visual effects division Dmitriy Ovcharenko three times nominee for VES Awards because he has worked on both mini series.
Leading position among VES Awards nominees has Gravity by Alfonso Cuaron. This motion picture has got 7 nominees in 24 categories. Among other short-list nominees are motion pictures The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Iron Man 3, Elysium, Star Trek: Into Darkness, The Great Gatsby, animation pictures Frozen, Monsters University, Despicable Me 2, video games Call of Duty: Ghosts, Crysis 3 and commercials for Sony PlayStation, AMD, PETA.
Nominees were selected by VES members via concurrent events in Los Angeles and within the eight Global VES Sections – New York, Bay Area, New Zealand, Sydney, United Kingdom, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. The VES Awards will be held on February 12th at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
